Rucksacks.

Do not leave home without one. For a day walk you will need a few things and the simple way is to carry them in a rucksack. Food, maps and layers just to name a few. My own rucksack contains tons of stuff as I always like to get the most from my walking so I’ll list a few things :- food, drink, over trousers, layers, compass, map, GPS, camera, binoculars, bird book, tree book or geology book, first aid kit, emergency bag, car keys, head torch, sit mat, length of rope, hats, gloves. I’m sure there is more. Do not let me put you off as the amount of stuff is often determined by the walk your going to do.

Airflow Rucksacks.

There is not much to mention about rucksacks because once you know what you need it to do the only other thing is comfort and all manufacturers claim their’s is the most comfortable. My only recomendation is to try the ‘airflow’ back systems. I think these are really worth the money and cut down the sweaty back syndrome down to pretty much nothing really. As you can see (right picture) a mesh sits on your back allowing a gap that air can flow round keeping the your back dry.
